Trauma and PTSD Counseling

The road of life can sometimes be a bumpy one.  We take most of these bumps in stride, feeling confident in our ability to manage them.  However, many of us will experience events in our lives that overwhelm our ability to cope and that threaten our sense of safety, security and well-being, long after the event has passed. Insomnia, nightmares, anger, depression and anxiety are just some of the symptoms that often accompany Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

An estimated 7.8 percent of Americans will experience PTSD at some point in their lives, leaving them susceptible to substance abuse, relationship and employment problems and physical illness.  Traditional talk therapies often prove ineffective due to the way traumatic memories are stored in the body. Certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), I offer two of the most effective trauma treatments in use today.
